UCR fee calculator
The fee depends on two things: the registration year and the number of self-propelled vehicles you operate. Brokers and leasing companies always pay the lowest bracket. Figures come straight from 49 CFR Part 367.
Trucks, tractors, buses. Trailers never count.

Counting right
- Power units only. Trucks, tractors, buses you own or hold on long-term lease. Trailers never count.
- Option A is the count on your last MCS-150 — what ucr.gov auto-renewal uses.
- Option B is what you actually operated in the 12 months ending June 30 of the prior year, minus intrastate-only trucks. Keep a UCR-2 list if it puts you in a cheaper bracket.
- Light vehicles under 10,001 lbs don't count — unless a trailer takes the combination to 10,001 lbs, it carries placarded hazmat, or it seats 11+.
- Fleet changes mid-year don't change the fee; they show up next year.
